Why this matters
An online tool must receive the file to process it unless it explicitly performs all work locally in the browser.
Metadata is separate from the visible scene. Removing it does not hide faces, addresses, reflections, landmarks or text that appears in the image itself.
Use the narrowest tool that solves the problem
Review the tool's architecture, retention policy, supported formats and verification method rather than assuming that 'online' or 'private' has one meaning.
